the last 2 weeks
Its been awhile since I updated this blod, partly because nothing new to report, partly because we were in the field for a week and so no internet connection. The last week of classes before we left for the field was more powerpoints. Absolutely nothing new, we spent a full afternoon learning how to read a map and what a map was. We received our equipment for the field and started packing. CIF does not issue flashlights, so you might want to bring your own so you don't have to buy one here. You can use the equipment issued or you can bring all of your own stuff. Monday was a long day of weapons issue, they ran out before they got to my platoon since we are 6th platoon, so we picked up our after we got to camp bullis. The week in the field went really well. All we did was land nav, the course is self-correcting and very easy to terrain associate on. It is done in teams of 2. 3 hours to find 3 points. We also did zeroing and qualification but the qualifying doesnt count for anything, they don't write names or lanes down. It was only for familiarization. We had a class on how to shoot the m9. So one day of getting to the field, a day of land nav, day of zeroing, day of qualifying and 3 mile ruck march with assault packs, and day of classes on 9mil was our first week of the field. The tents are heated and quite nice. No showers, porta-johns for bathrooms, but the weather was amazing.
